Workers compensation insurance is a requirement for any business in any state within the United States. What workers compensation insurance does is providing financial support to workers and employees who have been injured or disabled in any job-related activity. When an employee is injured on the job, the insurance covers part of all of the medical bills and supplies the injured employee with a percentage of his or her wages. This percentage varies by state law but is usually around 2/3 of the employee’s usual wages.

The business owner pays for the workers compensation insurance to protect the company’s employees in case of accident and to shield the employer from legal action, which is prevented at a higher degree by employer’s liability insurance. If your business is an especially high-risk business, it might be a good idea to invest in employer’s liability insurance as well.
